The CEO Pharmacy Services is a critical role for overall accountability producing desired results and providing thought leadership and subject matter expertise associated with all pharmacy services throughout Banner’s entire continuum of care. You will oversee cost savings through clinical medication management and operational standards, as well as revenue opportunities in the retail arena. As an entrepreneur you will be responsible for growing and expanding the business with new services such as family pharmacies, collaborative practice with Banner Medical Group, and a compounding pharmacy center and the health-plans. You will serve as the principal link between pharmacy services, Banner clinical operations, medical staff, Banner Health Network, and the patients and consumers we serve.

Banner Pharmacy Services division provides excellent patient care across our entire continuum through convenient access, improved medication outcomes and innovative pharmacy practices. Banner Pharmacy Services will be recognized nationally as a clinical leader and trusted partner in proactively providing innovative pharmacy services through excellence in integration, care coordination, medication management and service to make a difference in people's lives. Clinical Pharmacy Services are also included in this robust new service line and are responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. Job Summary

This position has overall accountability for producing desired results and providing thought leadership and subject matter expertise associated with all pharmaceutical services throughout Banners entire continuum of care. This leader will oversee cost savings through greater clinical medication management and operational standards as well as revenue opportunities in the retail arena. He/she will be responsible for new services such as family pharmacies, collaborative practice with BMG, and a compounding pharmacy center. This leader will develop an integrated approach in driving market share maintenance/expansion, oversee financial integrity of operations, coordinate efficient utilization of resources, provide prudent acquisition of technology, and develop short and long-term plans for carrying out the goals and objectives of pharmaceutical services as developed by the Board of Directors. This position serves as the principal link between pharmacy services and the community, local Board, and medical staff.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the design, development, and implementation of all pharmaceutical services.
  • Promotes high performance expectations for the pharmaceutical services team. Directs and ensures the effective identification, recruitment, development, and maintenance of talent for current and future organizational/facility needs in order to achieve goals and objectives. Sets clear expectations and holds team members accountable for producing desired outcomes. Motivates and develops team members and promotes teamwork.
  • Directs and oversees financial stewardship with an emphasis on providing efficient utilization of resources and making appropriate decisions pertinent to capital and technology acquisition.
  • Maintains a service excellence and healing culture with high expectations established for positive patient experiences. This culture should create an environment that results in high employee retention and high employee satisfaction. This service excellence culture includes ongoing and meaningful communication with employees to ensure that all staff members are well informed and recognized appropriately.
  • Provides leadership and actively participates in the development and implementation of strategic, tactical, program and operational planning. Utilizes forecasting and planning processes to identify capital and technology acquisitions and program development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

Advanced business and/or pharmacy degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, MPH, PharmD) and experience as normally obtained through ten years or more of blended pharmacy benefit and operations experience, including area such as health plan pharmacy leadership, clinical utilization management, client services/account management and benefit consulting. Multiple facility management experience is required.

Must demonstrate expert-level knowledge and awareness of area of expertise in designated facility, business entity or area and/or experience in which the knowledge, skills, and abilities are directly transferrable. Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals. Must demonstrate skills and business acumen through direct leadership experiences such as: Anticipating and responding to the needs of internal and external customers; managing a budget and financial plans; building partnerships with management, staff, and stakeholders to achieve department goals and objectives; managing problems and situations where uncertainty is inherent; persuading others to adopt a particular stance on an issue; developing and evaluating best practices and emerging trends for organizational applicability and appropriateness; constructing new and innovative solutions for complex and varying problems and situations while considering the larger perspective or context; mentoring and coaching staff by providing open and honest feedback to enhance performance; developing and implementing strategic goals and initiatives that support organizational success; demonstrating excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills; demonstrating a passion about continuously improving and providing high quality care and service excellence to customers, patients, families, employees and/or physicians.Skilled in coaching and developing direct reports and/or other employees that results in enhanced performance outcomes; setting and pursuing aggressive facility priorities and goals that demonstrate a strong commitment to overall organizational success; effectively allocating resources in order to accomplish goals and objectives; quickly assessing and assimilating facility and industry financial dynamics in order to act quickly and appropriately to changing environmental factors; negotiating win-win scenarios with outside vendors/partners while representing the facility and organization in the best possible light; developing collaborative and positive relationships with medical staff, employees, volunteers, the community, and/or other applicable parties; measuring and managing work outputs. PharmD strongly preferred.Pharmacy leadership experience strongly preferred.
