Job Summary

Provides high quality and accurate diagnostic MRI procedures as requested by physicians and approved by radiologists.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Introduces one self to the patient and/or family member and explains the procedure in details. Identifies patient with their name and date of birth.
  • Keeps track of all supplies needed for the department.
  • Obtains accurate and detailed history from patient or their immediate family related to the procedure.
  • Obtains accurate and detailed history from patient or their immediate family related to the procedure.
  • Prescreens patient for the MRI procedure using current set safety guidelines.
  • Provides high quality and accurate MRI procedures as written on the script provided by a physician, and by using preset department protocols. Assists in training and orienting new staff in all department functions.
  • Scans prescreen and history sheets in epic system.
  • Sends MRI exam after completion to the PACS system promptly. Checks the PACS system to ensure the entire exam has been completely transmitted.
  • Verfies the physician order and confers with radiologist when order is not clear, and obtains guidance from radiologist of any modification for the procedure.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with physicians, nursing staff, technologists and other support staff.
  • Demonstrated compassion with all patient population from infant to geriatric.
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures including MRI Angiography and Breast MRI.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and at all three campus sites as required.
  • Ability to handle stressful situation professionally.

Education

Bachelors Allied Health Preferred

Experience

4 years Healthcare/MedicalMRI Preferred

Certification/License

Licensed Radiology Tech
