Nurse Manager (Job Opening 423869) - Position Summary: The Ohio State University Medical Center's mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, teaching, and research. The Nurse Manager is responsible for leading a team of care providers cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient's involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of stay, and decreasing costs. Through the collaboration with the manager's leadership, patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Scope of Position:
The ED Nurse Manager plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a daily basis. The Nurse Manager is key in operationalizing the Medical Center's mission, values, and goals, and creates an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model. The Nurse Manager contributes to the ongoing operations of the Nursing Department.

The Nurse Manager, under the guidance of the Director, manages, guides, coaches and evaluates the work performance of patient care in the Emergency Department. Ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to the patient care operations and services is essential. Specific responsibilities related to the Nurse Manager are PCA/Tech scheduling, hiring and mentoring, timekeeping for designated staff, bed management, event reporting, core triage program, SANE program, and supply management.

Education and experience

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program required; Master's Degree in Nursing preferred; current license as a registered nurse from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing required. Three years of nursing experience, plus an additional one to three years management or leadership experience required. Active certification in relevant area desired. Clinical experience in Emergency Department setting preferred.
