The DGSOM is comprised of 24 academic departments, 5 organized research units, and 5 interdisciplinary research centers and is the academic home to approximately 3200 faculty and 2500 trainees, students and fellows. The DGSOM employs about 6200 staff and non-faculty academics. The DGSOM’s annual revenue totals approximately $2B, its expendable net assets approx. $500M and its endowments and quasi endowments approximately $1.5B.

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and Decision Support reports to the Executive Director Finance and is a strategic leadership role in the School of Medicine, critical to the development and implementation of the School’s short range and long range strategic plans and direction. To that purpose, the position works directly with the School’s executive leadership team, UCLA Health System leadership, and Campus leadership on institutional analyses and long‐range plans related to all of the School’s missions. The position is responsible for leading and managing all components of the financial planning, analysis, and decision support function for the School of Medicine. This responsibility includes the implementation and administration of an all‐inclusive clinical operating budget for the School of Medicine. S/he will oversee the development of complex budget and short/long term forecasting scenarios, long range planning and analysis for financial reporting and presentations for executive management – this includes designing and running ad hoc reports. S/he will oversee development of complex analyses to evaluate and recommend debt‐financing strategies.

As the key implementation and operational lead and executor for operational planning and analysis activities, the role is expected to identify potential improvements in financial administration infrastructure and operations through working collaboratively with the multiple stakeholders described above as well as applying ideas and best practices from other entities/academic institutions.
